Leonard Jones was born in Lincolnton, Ga., in 1955 and has resided there throughout his life. Jones began his interest in art at a very young age as he recalls drawing in the dirt with a stick. He continued his interest as he progressed into crayons and pencil drawings until the age of 13 when he decided to take a try using color after a set of watercolors was given to him as a gift. By age 17, Jones had discovered he preferred the control that he could achieve using acrylic paints and has used them ever since.

Jones' work started on canvas, plywood and about anything that he could find to paint on, but in 1995 he had discovered that scrap roofing tin was his favorite base medium and has continued to use tin ever since.

Jones' works are recollections of people, places, or events from his life, and all of his paintings are done from memory.

His work can be found in numerous private and public collections including those of musicians, TV personalities, museums and in many of the House of Blues collections.
